and I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who turned up and made it the great event it was and to all those who helped behind the scenes, I couldn’t have done it without you!
Thankfully the gods were on our side and the weather cleared for the weekend! It will however be forever known as the ‘bog wars’ as the mud claimed 5 cars (who got bogged) and several fighters. Much fun and laughter was had by all and it turned out to be a great weekend. We did make a profit and those funds will be used to improve shelter for next year.
I hear the bardic circle was a huge success on Saturday night – thanks Sorle for taking charge of this – unfortunately I had to miss it as my bed was calling to me 🙂
We did things slightly differently with the war chest this year – everyone attending was asked to bring an item to donate to the war chest. All attendees (not just the fighters) were given a coloured ribbon randomly as they signed in which put them in one of four teams.
- White – Odin
- Yellow – Hel
- Red – Loki
- Blue – Thor
Over the weekend, points were awarded for different things such as entry into lists for tourneys, IKAC, bardic challenge, A &S etc, bonus points were awarded for winning and for ‘deeds worthy of note’ and so on and so forth. At the end of the weekend, the points were tallied and the winning team got to raid the war chest. Given the success of how this worked, we will be using the same format this year. I did notice more involvement of everyone this year which was fantastic – I was hoping this new format would encourage more participation and allow everyone to feel involved – I think we did manage to achieve that.
Photos of the weekend have been uploaded to our Photobucket for viewing at http://s103.photobucket.com/albums/m143/centralwest/Radburne%20War%20IV/.
Results for the weekend were as follows:
- War chest went to Team Odin
