The world famous ‘I can’t believe it’s not tablet weaving’ (Weave and whip)SCAKA MAESTRA Oonagh O’Neill OL
Saturday in the tavern at 2:00 PM
1 hour
Beginner to intermediate level
Assumed knowledge – must know or be prepared to quickly learn blanket stitch.
If you have tried tablet weaving it will help you to understand the process, but not essential.
All tools and materials provided.
Cost $2 to cover materials.

Have you ever wondered about the magical and mystical tablet weaving that is worked into the fabric as it’s woven? All those complicated anchor point and weaving cards. Offerings made to the gods to guide you along this torturous task, the like not seen since Jason’s quest for the golden fleece.
Fear not! This class is experimental archaeology at its best.
This class demonstrates an alternative to the traditionally held wisdom of how to achieve this result by using a different technique. Best of all, it’s easy.
This class has been taught internationally (doesn’t that sound impressive) to the delight and amazement of all who took part. Now it’s your chance to get hands on with this slice of experimental archaeology.
This is your chance to move away from store bought trims and give your historic wardrobe a time appropriate boost, while adding resilience to your work.

Who am I?
I am a conservator specialising in textiles. If this technique was on an item to come to me in the lab, I would not be able to tell you that it wasn’t tablet woven.
